You may think that the footprints remind me how you never stop moving, but that’s not what they mean.
life is a journey
our lives were incomplete
before the day we met you
our meeting was fortuitous
the paths that God had drew
it was clear from the beginning
finding you was no mistake
we were meant to be together
a complete family we now make
your life will be a journey
it will take you all around
your family will always be here for you
no greater love can be found
sometimes you will have company
sometimes you are on your own
you leave a lasting imprint of yourself
in everyone you know
the footprints are the impressions you leave
in the lives of those you touch
no matter where life brings you
you will be loved so very much
so remember to tread gently
the marks can’t be erased
all that you say and do
in everything you face
we will always be there for you
through thick and through thin
our doors are always open

Dear Grace,
There was such a great amount of support in the long journey to bring you home. Family, neighbors, and friends, they were all there for us the whole time and they met us at the door when we finally arrived with you. It would have been much more difficult to make it through the adoption process without all of the support and love from those around us. You were loved by all of us before we even met you. There will be difficult times in your life and we will not always be around to tell you. But, I want you to remember that we will always love you just the same. You have a special place in all of our hearts.
